Another great day climbing Harter Fell from Eskdale today despite a little of everything in the weather!
We set off from Jubilee Bridge in the Eskdale Valley a little before 10am and headed up the path towards Spothow Gill, on the northern flank of Harter Fell.
On Mondays walk we had crossed to Green Crag from here but the ground had been pretty waterlogged so today we decided to head directly towards Harter Fell and not get our feet wet before we had really started the days walking.
As we climbed the western slopes of Harter Fell the cold wind blew in quite...

A blustery day on the Crinkle Crags, climbing from the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel in the Langdale Valley and descending by The Band.
The cloud was streaming over the Langdale Pikes as we set off towards Oxendale and the start of the Crinkle Crags walk. There were patches of blue sky above the thick blanket that rose from about 700m on all sides, but not enough blue sky to give us hope that it might clear. Light bands of rain set in as we ascended Browney Gill towards Red Tarn and it was here that the gusts of wind set in.

A good day today climbing Harter Fell along with Green Crag and Hard Knott despite a less than favourable weather forecast for the day.
We set off from Jubilee Bridge in Eskdale at 10am and followed the path across the bridge and up the norhtern flank of Harter Fell by Spothow Gill, it wasn't long before we were up into the cloud and getting the waterproofs on as it started raining, although after a few minutes the rain eased and then stopped for the rest of the day.
We were soon crossing Spothow Gill and climbing towards Little Dow Crag and following...

A very wet and windy day out on Haystacks and Fleetwith Pike today.
Our route took us from Gatesgarth Farm onto Haystacks. Up to Scarth Gap the cloud was getting lower and now hiding the Higher fells.
We scrambled up to Haystack Summit the view was rather local but atmospheric. From here we made our way down passing Innominate Tarn and round to Black Beck Tarn. Passing Little Round How we climbed up through Dubs Quarry and made our way through the heather via a fine path climbing to the summit of Fleetwith Pike. The cloud had lifted a little giving us...

Despite some cloud on the summits we had a great day climbing Scafell Pike from Seathwaite, with good views for much of the day.
Luckily, today wasn't yesterday, a day when the rain barreled down for five hours and the streets ran as rivers. We set off from Seathwaite to climb Scafell Pike on a cool October morning with clouds moving slowly and, thankfully, not raining on us.
The wind picked up slightly as we made our way towards Styhead Tarn, the view back all the way to Blencathra clear, but Scafell Pike itself covered in cloud. As we ascended the corridor...

Setting off from Buttermere we climbed up passing Scale Force and met with Lincomb Edge here we had great views over Buttermere. From here we climbed to Red Pike, the first of the Buttermere Fells, and proceed along the top to High Stile after a little low cloud the views returned. Reaching High Crag we had great views of Pillar and...

Setting out from the Shop we headed up passing Stock Ghyll waterfalls then climbing to the summit of Wansfell Pike. The clouds, hiding the summit and only Ambleside was visible with the Fairfield Horseshoe & The Kirkstone Pass hidden from view.
We followed the wall along the top of Wansfell to get to its true summit and highest point Baystones.
Today was a very special day for us all at The Lake District Walker...

A great day despite a poor forecast as we climbed Helvellyn by Striding Edge, descending over Swirral Edge and Catstycam back to Glenridding.
When we met in the car park to climb Helvellyn it was thundering down with heavy rain, and we sheltered under the porch of the information centre until it passed. The summit of Birkhouse Moor was shrouded in cloud as we left and began the ascent up past Lanty's Tarn, and the forecast was for strong wind. Nevertheless, the views behind us over Ullswater and Place Fell were clear, and we had no more rain on the ascent...

A windy day taking in three of the lesser walked fells above the Wasdale Valley including Buckbarrow, Seatallan and Middle Fell.
Setting out from Greendale we climbed steadily up to Middle Fell summit. From here we crossed over the moor and had the steep pull onto Seatallan. We had lunch in the summit shelter but we were competing with the wind.
After, we crossed Nether Wasdale Common down to Cat Bields and crossed by Glade How before reaching our final summit of the day Buckbarrow. The views were pretty good throughout the day although the Scafell's seem to have most of the cloud...

A good day on the lower fells above Grasmere and Elterwater, climbing from Grasmere to the summit of Silver How before descending to Elterwater.
A Sunshine filled day out. Walking from Grasmere over a quiet Silver How. Enjoying a spot of lunch at The Britannia in Elterwater. Then returning to Grasmere Through various woods and along idyllic country lanes.
A great day with pleasant company, great to see the autumnal colours starting to show.
