"What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know."
Rene Daumal

Summits included on this route:

Ben Macdui
1309 metres/4295 feet
Cairn Gorm
1245 metres/4085 feet

"Doubly happy, however, is the man to whom lofty mountain tops are within reach."
John Muir

From the car park at the Cairn Gorm Ski Centre we will climb to the south, climbing towards Miadan Creag an Leth-choin, this path gives us wonderful views of the northern corries, the amazing combe of Coire an t-Sneachda being the most famous and dramatic of these.

The long ridge of Miadan Creag an Leth-choin brings us up nonto the vast Cairngorm Plateau, with the deep ravine of the River Dee to our right we will climb to the summit of Ben Macdui.

From the summit of Ben Macdui we will head north, either over or skirting around Cairn Lochan, crossing the edge of the plateau, above the rim of the northern corries before the path brings us up to the summit of Cairn Gorm.

From Cairn Gorm an easy path then leads back down to the Ski Centre.

Each participant will be required to bring suitable equipment for their chosen event, please see Equipment Required.
