Kentmere Horseshoe follows two great ridges, covering several great summits including High Street, Harter Fell, Ill Bell and Froswick.

A great walk with some steep inclines, exposed rocks and the good chance of seeing the wild fell ponies.

As there is limited parking in the village of Kentmere we will pick and drop off clients up en-route, this will include Staverley, Windermere, Ambleside and Keswick.

The Route:
The route follows the classic horseshoe route in an anticlockwise direction climbing first to the summit of Shipman Knotts and Kentmere Pike before continuing over the summits of Harter Fell and Mardale Ill Bell and High Street, the highest point of the walk.

From the summit of High Street we will descend over Thornthwaite Crag to Froswick, Ill Bell and Yolk, a wonderful ridge as we descend back towards Kentmere with great views south over Windermere and Morecambe Bay.


Equipment:
A printed map and route card for the days walk is provided for each client so that they can follow the days progress.

The Lake District Walker is able to provide limited equipment for use by clients, this includes waterproof clothing and warm clothing.

Each client is expected to bring suitable personal equipment, this should include the following:

Summer Walks:

Walking shoes / Boots
Waterproof clothing (Jacket and trousers)
Suitable clothing for walking (no jeans)
Warm tops
Packed lunch
