A.W Wainwright

From Elterwater, in the Langdale Valley we will climb north, onto the ridge climbing above Chapel Stile leading to the summit of Silver How, a wonderful viewpoint over Grasmere and Rydal Water.

The splendid ridge continue west from Silver How eventually climbing to the summit of Blea Rigg and then onto the fine rocky top of Sergeant Man.

From Sergeant Man a good path traverses to Thunacar Knott, the first of the Langdale Pikes from where we will cross to the summits of Pavey Ark, Harrison Stickle and Pike O'Stickle, all wonderful summits with great views.

From Pike O'Stickle we will descend to Martcrag Moor and Stake Pass where we will find a campsite for the night, with a wonderful view of the sunset over Glaramara.

After breakfast on day two we will pack up our tents and set off over Rosset Pike, a fine viewpoint over the valley of Mickleden, following the path by Angle Tarn to Esk Hause and Esk Pike.

The ridge leads south fro Esk Pike to the wonderful summit of Bowfell, one of the best summits in the Lake District and the best view of the Scafell range.

The fine Crinkles ridge leads south from Bowfell, a rambling rocky ridge with many summits, the highest of which is Long Top, the penultimate summit. Each Crinkle has it's own view, either of the Langdale Valley or across the other Crinkles.

An easy descent will bring us across the summit of Cold Pike to Red Tarn, where we will find a campsite for the night on the slopes of Pike O'Blisco, a wonderful place to camp, from where we may get views of the sun setting behind the Crinkles.

Day three, after breakfast will bring us up to the summit of Pike O'Blisco from where we will descend to Blea Tarn and follow the ridge west, crossing Side Pike and climbing by Lingmoor Tarn to the summit of Lingmoor Fell and back down to Elterwater.
