Scafell Pike from Seathwaite

A great day climbing Scafell Pike, blustery on the tops but far better than the forecast had suggested.

We set out from Seathwaite Farm and followed the track along to Stockley Bridge from here we made our way up to Styhead. The cloud was hovering hiding Scafell Pike and Lingmell.

We made our way along The Corridor Route the rain joined us briefly but stayed away the wind was present but not to bad and it was surprisingly warm. We had lunch in the group shelter just before Lingmell Col and then made the final push to Scafell Pike summit.

As we climbed the wind was getting stronger reaching the summit the full fetch of the wind joined us.

After a few pictures we decided as the gusts were pushing us around that heading along the top towards Great End would not be pleasant and thus we returned down via The Corridor route. This gave us great views along to Derwentwater and occasionally through to Skiddaw as we desended. Once back at Styhead the rain came across in  heavy sheets and stuck with us to Seathwaite Farm.

A great day with pleasant company. Well done!
