Probably the easiest ascent of Great Gable is from Honister Pass, starting at the Honister Slate Mines at 350m altitude cuts out over a third of the ascent for the day.
There are two good routes from Honister Pass, one by 'Moses Trod' the other by Grey Knotts, Brandreth and Green Gable, the combination of these two routes makes a great circuit.
