"You never climb the same mountain twice, not even in memory. Memory rebuilds the mountain, changes the weather, retells the jokes, remakes all the moves."
Lito Tejada-Flores

A wonderful weekends walking covering some of the best routes in Glencoe.

On Saturday we will take on the classic Aonach Eagach ridge, one of the best ridges in te UK.

On Sunday our objective is Buachaille Etive Mor, one of the most striking mountains in Britain, the view of the Buachaille from Rannoch Moor is one of the most photographed view in Scotland, the views from the tops don't disappoint either.

Summits included on this route:

Meall Dearg
953 metres/3145 feet
Sgorr nam Fiannaidh
967 metres/3172 feet
Stob Dearg
1021 metres/3349 feet
Stob na Broige
956 metres/3136 feet

"Somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit is the answer to the mystery why we climb."
Greg Child

Aonach Eagach (Saturday)

From the Glencoe Valley we will climb by Allt Ruigh to the summit of Sron Gharbh, although not classed as a Munro our first summit of the day, from here the ridge continues to the west climbing to Am Bodach, this is where the route becomes interesting, at times the ridge is narrow and requires some scrambling as well as a head for heights, but the ridge and the views are magnificent as we traverse the ridge to the summit of Meall Dearg and cross Stob Coire Leith to the summit of Sgorr nam Fiannaidh.

A magnificent ridge, not to be underestimated, but a thoroughly rewarding day in the mountains.

Should weather conditions not be suitable then the instructor on the day will offer a suitable alternative, possible the wonderful Bidean Nam Bian on the southern side of the Glencoe Valley.

Buachaille Etive Mor (Sunday)
From the Glencoe Valley we will climb through the Coire na Tulaich, a steep path at times giving us access to the high summits beyond, a short climb from the top of the Coire leads us to the summit of Stob Dearg, our first and highest summit of the day.

The views from the summit are magnificent, particularly too the north east where the ground drops steeply over the massive cliffs to the flatness of Rannoch Moor far below.

From the summit of Stob Dearg we will follow the ridge south, a fine walk leading to the second summit of the day, Stob na Broige.

From here we will descend north to the banks of the River Coupall and follow this back to the A82 and our start point.

Each participant will be required to bring suitable equipment for their chosen event, please see Equipment Required.
