Scafell Pike from Sea to Summit

Scafell Pike from Sea to Summit

"In the case of Scafell Pike, opinions must agree that here is a mountain without doubt, and a mountain that is, moreover, every inch a mountain."
A.W Wainwright on Scafell Pike

Scafell Pike, the highest montain in England has several great approaches to it's rocky summit, this route climbes from Ravenglass on the Irish Sea coastline along the Eskdale Valley before eventually climbing from Upper Eskdale to the summit of Scafell Pike.

The descent is much shoter then the ascent, dropping down by Lingmell Col and taking the BRown Tongue path down to Wasdale Head.

This wonderful route makes a great challenge event, a really hard but satisfying route to the summit of Scafell Pike which makes a prefect alternative to other one day challenge events such as the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and the High Street Roman Raod.

"The face of Scafell Crag is the grandest sight in the district."
A.W Wainwright on Scafell
