Scafell Pike from Seathwaite: Wednesday 20th February 2013

A cold day climbing Scafell Pike today from Seathwaite. Despite the cloud and chilly conditions we had some great views.

We set off from Seathwaite just after 9am and climbed from Stockley Bridge up to Sty Head Pass and the stretcher box.

We were soon up onto the Corridor Route and climbing towards Lingmell Col. At Lingmell Col we decided to head up onto the summit of Lingmell, a great decision as we were rewarded for the extra affort with some great views over Wasdale and Great Gable.

From Lingmell we descended again to Lingmell Col and headed up onto the summit of Scafell Pike, by now we were in the cloud and didn't see much from the summit, but we stopped for our lunches behind the summit platform.

After a short stop we were off again, descending towards Boradcrag Col, this section of the path was a little icy in places, but we crossed the col and were soon up over Broad Crag and making our way across Ill Crag and descending through Calf Cove to Esk Hause, dropping down below Great End and onto the Grains Gill path.

We turned off the path to pick up the drove road dropping down the grassy shoulder to meet the path again by the footbridge and following the path down again to Stockley Bridge and the track back to Seathwaite Farm.
