The Route:
An alternative route to the summit of High Raise to our usual route from Grasmere. Starting from Stonethwaite we will pick our way up to the summit of Eagle Crag on a clever path weaving between the crags, the seldom visited summit has magnificent views down over the Borrowdale Valley.
From Eagle Crag the route continues over Sergeants Crag before a grassy slope takes us onto High Raise. The views from the summit of High Raise are magnificent, the summit is situated in the centre of Lakeland and has a panorama of most of the Lakeland Fells.
From High Raise we will follow the easy path north descending and then climbing along Greenup Edge to the grassy summit of Ullscarf. From here we will descend over the heather covered slopes and seldom used paths to Dock Tarn and the path back through the woods to Stonethwaite.

Directions:
From Keswick – Leave Keswick on the Borrowdale Road (from the mini roundabout near the co-op) Follow this road for several miles, passing through the village of Rosthwaite, turn left shortly after Rosthwaite to the small village of Stonethwaite, park as close to the end of the lane as possible, we will meet outside the Langstrath Inn, at the end of the lane.
