The Route:
From Patterdale we will climb by Side Farm to Boredale Hause where a good path will bring us to the summit of Place Fell, a lower fell but with magnificent views over Patterdale and Ullswater.
From the summit we will follow the northern shoulder over The Knight to Birk Fell where a good path will bring us down the fellside to meet the lakeshore path back to Patterdale.

Directions:
From the South Lakes – From the A591 between Ambleside and Windermere turn onto the A592. Follow this road over the Kirkstone Pass descending to Brothers Water. Continue on this road to the village of Patterdale, a car park (pay and display) will be found opposite the Patterdale Hotel, we will meet outside the hotel.
From the North Lakes – From the A66 between Keswick and Penrith turn off onto the A592, near the Rheghed Centre, signposted to Ullswater, follow this road south along the shore of Ullswater passing through Glenridding to Patterdale, a car park (pay and display) will be found opposite the Patterdale Hotel, we will meet outside the hotel.
