A three day challenge based in the English Lake District.
Previous to 1974 and the formation of Cumbria the Lake District covered land in Cumberland, Westmorland and Lancashire.
Over the three days we will climb the highest points in each of these old counties:
- The Old Man Of Coniston - Pre 1974 the highest point in Lancashire
- Helvellyn - The highest point in Westmorland (and the 3rd highest point in England)
- Scafell Pike - The highest point in Cumberland, and the highest in England.
Day 1:
The Old Man Of Coniston
One of the most famous and popular mountains in the Lake District, another popular connection is the link between the Old Man and Arthur Ransome's Swallows And Amazons books, where the Coniston Old Man was known by the children as Kanchenjunga.
Day 2:
Helvellyn
One of the most spectacular mountaineering routes in England, the Striding Edge ridge is rightly extremly popular and famous.
In all but the best weather conditions the ridge can be daunting to the inexperienced and should not be underestimated!
Day 3:
Scafell Pike
Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England and by far our most popular route. We probably climb Scafell Pike more than almost anyone else (John climbed it 72 times in 2008 and more in 2009) so why not take advantage of this experience and let us take you up the pick of the routes.
We will be based in Keswick for the duration of this event where lifts will be available each day to and from the walk.
Included in the price will be a CD of pictures within one week of the walk.
