High Spy

Maiden Moor

"Catbells is one of the great favourites, a family fell where grandmothers and infants can climb the heights together, a place beloved."
A Wainwright

After the minibus journey from Keswick to Honister Pass, we begin with a climb up to Dale Head. This high fell gives fantastic views out over Buttermere to the west, and we'll also be able to see all the way back to Keswick, our destination.

The route then descends Dale Head to join the ridge along past High Spy and Maiden Moor, the best fells for views down over Derwent Water and Borrowdale.

Finally we will reach Catbells, the most popular hill in the Lake District, before descending into the woods alongside Derwent Water.

At this point we join the Cumbria Way which takes us north through Overside Wood and then east into Keswick.

Each participant will be required to bring suitable equipment for their chosen event, please see Kit List tab above.
