Grid Reference: NY 34193 20556
Height: 857 metres/2812 feet

"Great Dodd, well named, is the most extensive of the fells in the Helvellyn Range."
A.W Wainwright

Great Dodd, the large sprawling grassy fell towards the northern end of the Helvellyn ridge, the highest point of the series of gentle grassy summits that rise north from Sticks Pass. To the south of Great Dodd the ridge continues over Watson's Dodd and Stybarrow Dodd whilst to the north the ridge culminates in Clough Head.

To the west of Great Dodd the slopes drop steeply to St John's in the Vale, steep rocky slopes offer much of interest but to the east the slopes are more gentle and descend gently toward Dockray, much of this land is boggy underfoot.
