"Crinkle Crags is much too good to be missed."
A Wainwright

The fine ridge of The Crinkle Crags lives up to it's name, a wonderful succession of rocky summits above the Langdale Valley, rising above Red Tarn and continuing to Three Tarns, at the slopes of Bowfell.

The highest of the five summits of The Crinkles is Long Top, the second Crinkle when walking from Red Tarn towards Bowfell, Long Top has the broadest of the summits.

To the south of Long Top is the 'Bad Step' a short and easy scramble up a small rocky face. The Bad Step can be avoided however, an easy path leads to the west of the crag emerging a short walk from the summit cairn.
