“the greatest display of natural grandeur in the district, a spectacle of massive strength and savage wildness”
A Wainwright
“Doubly happy, however, is the man to whom lofty mountain tops are within reach”
John Muir
From Wha House we will follow the track to Scale Bridge where we begin the gentle climb past Brock Crag and Silverybield Crag to Cam Spout Crag. We continue following the River Esk up to one of its tributaries called Little Narrowcove and immediately begin to climb to our first summit of the day Pen. Once at Pen follow the steep ground up past Chambers Crag to begin our summit of Scafell Pike.
At the summit of Scafell Pike we head down Mickledore to connect with the concealed path up to Foxes Tarn. This can be quite the scramble but offers welcome solitude from the crowds atop Scafell Pike, gently ascending Scafell. From this summit we descend via Slight Side down the path crossing Catcove Beck and back into Eskdale to Wha House Farm.
Each participant will be required to bring suitable equipment for their chosen event, please see Kit List tab above.
