"The summit of Snowdon: you are here, nearer to Heaven."

Snowdon has a huge variety of routes climbing to the summit, from the narrow ridges and exposure of the Snowdon Horseshoe to the long gentle route from Llanberris, why not let our fully qualified instructors guide to to the summit of this wonderful mountain, the highest peak in Wales.

Summits included on this route:

Snowdon	1085 metres/3560 feet

The first recorded ascent of Snowdon was by the botanist Thomas Johnson in 1639.

However, the 18th-century Welsh historian Thomas Pennant mentions a "triumphal fair upon this our chief of mountains" following Edward I's conquest of Wales in 1284, which, if true, indicates the possibility of earlier ascents.

From Pen-Y-Pass we will climb by the PYG Track, the path climbs quite steeply at first before easing off as we approach Bwlch y Moch, Llyn Llydaw will now be seen down below us on our left hand side.
An easy path leads on from here, with some wonderful views of the summit of Snowdon and down towards Llyn Glaslyn.
The path begins to steepen as we climb the zig-zags towards Bwlch Glas, here we join the Llanberris path, alongside the railway track for the final climb to the summit of Snowdon.
Our return route is by the Miners Track, retracing our steps for the first section down the zig-zags below Bwlch Glas until we reach the start of the Miners Path, this descends to the shores of Llyn Glaslyn and then follows a good track past the mine buildings of the old Brittannia Copper Mine and crossing the causeway across Llyn Llydaw, a good track now leads us back to Pen-Y-Pass.

Location Info	From the A55 coast road follow signs for Llanberis the A4086 to YHA Pen-Y-Pass. From the A5 turn onto A4086 at Capel Curig. Turn right at Pen-y-Gwryd Hotel. There is a Pay and Display car park on the left hand side of the road at the top of the pass. Please note that there is limited parking at Pen Y Pass, at busy times it fills up early, there is a Park and Ride system from the lower car parks, but please leave plenty of time for this.
