Pike O'Stickle

Pike O'Stickle

Grid Reference: NY 27399 07356
Height: 709 metres/2326 feet

"Simple lines are often the most effective, and the smoothly-tapering pyramid of Pike O'Stickle, rising to a taperering thimble of rock without interuption or halt between valley and summit, as an imposing and impressive feature that contributes much to the grandeur of the head of Great Langdale."
A Wainwright

The huge volcanic plug of Pike O'Stickle towers steeply above the Langdale Valley, a hugely impressive mountain.

The steep drops from the only enhance the views from the summit with exceptional views across the deep Langdale Valley to the Crinkles and Bowfell as well as back along Langdale towards Windermere.

Below the summit crags have been found neolithic axe heads, the remains of an ancient factory from where the axe heads were trades as far away as Eastern Europe.
