High Rigg
|
"The full traverse of the ridge...is a splendid little expedition." |
A.W Wainwright

Although low in height the rambling summits and tarns of High Rigg can give a wonderful shorter walk, taking in several subsidiary summmits and viewpoints before climbing to the final summit of Naddle Fell.
The small church of St John's in the Vale, nestled just below the summit of Naddle Fell is a popular also for it's remoteness and unspoilt views.
A good route is to traverse the ridge from south to north, with the views of Blencathra ahead and the Helvellyn massif behind before descending to St John's Church either continuing noth over Low Rigg to Tewet Tarn and the A66 or returning south along the beautiful St John's in the Vale valley back to Smailthwaite Bridge.
