Birkhouse Moor & Catstycam

Birkhouse Moor & Catstycam

"If Catstycam stood alone, remote from its fellows, it would be one of the finest peaks in Lakeland."
A Wainwright

To the east of Helvellyn the edges of Striding Edge and Swirral Edge drop down to two summits, Striding Edge descends to the grassy summit of Birkhouse Moor, a wonderful viewpoint over Helvellyn and the Edges.

Swirral Edge leads to the wonderful pointy summit of Catstycam, one of the ten highest summits in the Lake District in it's own right, but a tremendous little summit with great views both up towards Helvellyn and down over Ullswater.
