Dove Crag
|
"The lofty height that towers so magnificently over Dovedale is indebted for it's name to a very impressive vertical wall of rock on it's north-east flank." |

Most walkers will know Dove Crag from a circuit of The Fairfield Horseshoe, one of the most popular ridge walks in the Lake District, although this is a magnificent walk there is much more to explore on Dove Crag than this route would suggest.
The eastern flanks of Dove Crag drop steeply to Dovedale, a beautiful and unspoilt valley climbing above Hartsop and Brothers Water. Above Dovedale is the huge face of Dove Crag is an imposing sight, half way up the cliff face is Priests Hole, a hidden cave overlooking the valley and a wonderful viewpoint.
