Kentmere Pike
|
"Falling precipitously into the narrow jaws of Longsleddale: a most impressive scene." |
A.Wainwright
|
The southern ridge of Harter Fell descends gently over a grassy ridge, bisecting the valleys of Kentmere and Longsleddale crossing the summit of Kentmere Pike. To the west, above the Kentmere Valley the ridge slopes down over gentle slopes, wooded on the lower reaches, but to the east rocky crags and rough ground make a wonderful scene the most notable of these crags are Goat Scar and Raven Crag.
A good panorama to the west of high fells is surpassed by the view south east over the Penninnes and south west over Morcambe Bay.
