Mardale Ill Bell
|
"Of the many excellent climbs available from Mardale Head the direct ascent of Mardale Ill Bell ranks high, the walk being favoured by striking views of two of the finest tarns in Lakeland, each set amongst crags in wild and romantic surroundings." |

Although only a short stroll across a grassy plateau from the summit of High Street, Mardale Ill Bell offers much more, especially when climbed from the Mardale Valley, here rocky ridges climb through spectacular scenery, between some of the most picturesque tarns in the Lake District.
An easier approach from Mardale is via Small Water and Nan Bield Pass, the fine col linking the valleys of Mardale and Kentmere, from here a good path leads to the summit of Mardale Ill Bell.
