Selside Pike
|
"One of the lesser known fells is Selside Pike on the eastern fringe of the district, commanding the head of the shy and beautiful little valley of Swindale. It's neglect is scarcely merited." |

On the eastern edge of the Lake District above the Haweswater Resevoir Selside Pike is a fine viewpoint over the fells around the head of the Mardale Valley. The view eastwards is also good, uninterrupted to the Pennine Fells.
The lower slopes to the north and east are wonderful, the Old Corpse Road crosses from the roadside by Haweswater to the beautiful valley of Swindale and the summit can be attained easily from either the summit of the corpse road or from the Swindale Valley.
An easy ridge walk to the west will bring the walker to the summit of Branstree and then down to Gatesgarth Pass.
