Shipman Knotts

"Shipman Knotts is usually climbed as a means of gaining access to the Harter Fell ridge, but it is an interesting short expedition in itself." |

The rocky summit of Shipman Knotts, on the southern ridge from Harter Fell offers much of interest to the walker climbing towards Harter Fell, usually crossed as part of the Kentmere Horseshoe the rocky outcrops encountered while climbing Shipman Knotts are in contrast to higher up the ridge, where grassy slopes rule.
A good view of Longsleddale is had from the summit of Shipman Knotts, but a short walk north to the subsidiary summit of Goat Scar offers a much wider view over the valley.
