Knott

"If the party consists of more than one person, and if, further, a bat, ball and wickets can be found in the depths of somebody's rucksack, a cricket match can be played on turf that many a county ground may covet." |
A. Wainwright

Knott is the highest of the fells to the north of Skiddaw, known as the Back O'Skiddaw and it's long grassy summit ridge it the hub of the largest of these ridges, to the south a narrow shoulder links Knott with Great Calva and Little Calva, to the north west a long ridge descends over Great Sca Fell and crosses all the summits to the west of Roughten Gill and to the north east a grassy ridge crosses Great Lingy Hill before splitting to the summits of High Pike and Carrock Fell.
Although many of the best routes to the summit of Knott are via the subsidiary summits and ridges an interesting path climbs from the north by Roughten Gill, taking in much of the rich mining history of the area.
