Great Carrs
|
"A splendid perch on the edge of the profound abyss of Greenburn." |
A Wainwright
|
The long sweeping ridge of Wet Side Edge climbs above the valley of Greenburn, climbing past the subsidiary summits of Hell Gill Pike and Little Cars before reaching the summit of Great Carrs, high above the Greenburn Valley with a dramatic view down the valley to Little Langdale Tarn.
To the south of Great Carrs the ridge continues to the summit of Swirl How, the central hub of the Coniston Fells.
Great Carrs is also an easy climb from the summit of Wrynose Pass, with the pass also making a natural crossing point to Red Tarn and the Crinkle Crags.
