Rosthwaite Fell
|
"The finest of many summits in this section (although not the highest) is Rosthwaite Cam, and a really good one it is, all rock, and unassailable except for one weakness by which an agile walker may climb to touch the cairn." |

Rosthwaite Fell, climbing above the southern end of the Borrowdale Valley rises over a succession of rocky summit to join Glaramara near it's summit. To the east the ridge descends to the Langstrath Valley and to the west Comb Gill separates Rosthwaite Fell from Thorneythwaite Fell, the other ridge climbing to the summit of Glaramara.
Bessyboot makes the most prominent summit, although not the highest point on the fell, the northernmost top is separated from the other higher summits by the col at Tarn At Leaves, from where the ridge climbs south over Rosthwaite Cam, a rocky summit with a fine view and then continues south over the twin summits of Dovesnest Crag crossing Comb Door to Comb Head, with it's stunning view north over The Comb to Borrowdale and Derwentwater.
On either side of the ridge can be found some wonderful scrambling routes, in particular Intake Ridge above The Comb and Cam Crag above Langstrath.
