Wetherlam
|
"Wetherlam features prominently in Brathay views like a giant whale surfacing above waves of lesser hills." |

Rising from the valleys of Little Langdale and Tilberthwaite the huge mass of Wetherlam rises like a huge dome, scarred by it's intensive mining and quarrying history Wetherlam is now left to it's own devices and has slowly returned to nature. In fact the relics of it's mining past offer much to the explorer, it's often said that Wetherlam is a hollow mountain!
Wetherlam conceals much of the view north and west from many of the other Coniston Fells, but the view from the summit of Wetherlam is unspoilt and clear offering stunning views over Windermere to the Far Eastern Fells and north to the Langdale Pikes as well as the dramatic view down into the Little Langdale Valley.
Several more adventurous routes can be found on Wetherlam, some such as Wetherlam Edge from the walker but many more scrambling routes are also available for the more adventurous.
