Although not the highest fell in the area Harter Fell is easily recognisable, it's conical shape makes it stand out on the skyline above Eskdale and it is easily recognisable from the ridge between Scafell and The Crinkles as well as from the Fairfield range to the east.
The shapely peak is also a great climb with interest throughout, especially the rocky summit.
As well as Harter Fell we will also cover the lesser known neighbours of Green Crag and Hard Knott and descend back to Eskdale via the Hard Knott Roman Fort.
