The most direct route to the summit of Scafell Pike is from the Wasdale Valley, although steep most of the way the ascent of Scafell Pike from Wasdale Head is the easiest option.
The route climbs by the Brown Tongue path to Lingmell Col and then up to the summit of Scafell Pike.
There is a wide choice of routes for the descent, the most popular option is the fairly direct route over Lingmell and down the ridge back to Wasdale Head.
