The slender northern ridge of Scoat Fell descends slightly to the shapely pinnacle of rock, Steeple, a wonderful summit and a splendid viewpoint over the Ennerdale Valley.

The summit is a fine viewpoint over the crags to the south, Black Crag and the crags below Scoat Fell offer much to the climber and scrambler.

The northern ridge of Steeple descends to the Ennerdale Valley and is a good but unfrequented route, the summit is usually attained by the short ridge descending from the nearby Scoat Fell and as such is most commonly reached as part of the ever popular Mosedale Horseshoe.
