A great walk climbing Fairfield from Patterdale despite the summits being in cloud for most of the day, not to mention some brilliant people.
Starting from Patterdale we followed the valley to Deepdale Bridge. From here we ascended over Hartsop Above How.
This great rolling ridge soon commands great view towards Fairfield and downwards to Deepdale with St Sunday Crag looming by our right and The Kirkstone Pass to our left. Reaching Hart crag we decided to take some shelter from the little wind that there was and have lunch, there was little to see apart from cloud, which broke and provided some views of Windermere and Ambleside looking down Rydal Beck.
After lunch we headed towards the summit of Fairfield which provided a wider view of the park for a brief moment before the clouds shrouded the summit.
From the summit we descended down over Cofa Pike, reaching Deepdale Hause. Then the final pull onto St Sunday Crag. From the summit we descended over the Birks returning to Patterdale.
