From the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Langdale we will climb a short distance along the road towards Blea Tarn before turning off to the right to climb the steep eastern flank of Wrynose Fell, eventually leading to the summit of the wonderful Pike O'Blisco, a conical mountain with some great views of the high fells surrounding it. |

From the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Langdale we will climb a short distance along the road towards Blea Tarn before turning off to the right to climb the steep eastern flank of Wrynose Fell, eventually leading to the summit of the wonderful Pike O'Blisco, a conical mountain with some great views of the high fells surrounding it. From Pike O'Blisco we will descend west, dropping down on the good path to Red Tarn, climbing again west a short distance on the track until we turn off and head across country to the summit of Cold Pike. The rocky summits of Cold Pike give a good view over Little Langdale and Wetherlam. From Cold Pike we will descend pack to Red Tarn and follow the path that descends by Brown Howe and down into the Oxendale Valley, crossing Oxendale Beck and following the track back by Stool End to the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel. Each participant will be required to bring suitable equipment for their chosen event, please see Kit List tab above. |

Location Info | From Ambleside: Leave on the A593, signposted to Langdale and Coniston, follow this road until the junction with Ellers Brow, turn right onto Ellers Brow, signposted to Chapel Stile and Langdale. Follow this road through the village of Chapel Stile and continue past the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel to the right, continue along this lane to the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, on the right, there is a National Trust pay and display car park outside the Hotel for walkers. |
