Rossett Pike

Rossett Pike

Grid Reference: NY 24920 07565
Height: 650 metres/2133 feet

"dominating the deep glacial hollow of Mickleden and rising steeply between the two passes that provide the only exit from that valley."
A Wainwright

Rossett Pike rises steeply above the head of the Mickleden Valley, giving a dramatic view along the valley to Great Langdale beyond. To the west grassy slopes descend to Angle Tarn and into the Langstrath Valley, a stark contrast to the steep and rocky eastern slopes.

Rossett Pike is really part of the northern spur of Bowfell, with the depression of Rossett Pass providing just enough of a dip on the ridge for Rossett Pike to be classified as a separate summit.

The ridge north from Rossett Pike to the summit of Stake Pass provides stunning views throughout over Mickleden below and act as the link between the high Southern Fells and the Langdale Pikes and Central Fells to the north east.
