"Scoat Fell provides magnificent mountain scenery on all sides."
A Wainwright

Scoat Fell, links the main mountain ridges between Wasdale and Ennerdale, lying at the crossroads of the main Pillar to Haycock ridge with the northern spur of Steeple descending towards Ennerdale and the southern ridge of Red Pike descending to Yewbarrow and the Wasdale Valley below.

Scoat Fell is known to most who traverse the Mosedale Horseshoe, it's broad summit is crossed between Pillar and Red Pike.

Scoat Tarn to the south of the summit is a delightful unspoilt tarn, well off the busy paths and a wonderful campsite for wild campers.

To the north several impressive crags descend from Scoat Fell those around Mirk Cove, Mirklin Cove and Black Crag.
