“Binsey is a most excellent station for appraising the Northern Fells as a preliminary to their exploration...it is a viewpoint of outstanding merit”
A Wainwright
A great evening or half day walk, although only a short climb from the roadside the summit of Binsey is a wonderful viewpoint, be it looking towards the mountains, or out over the Solway Coast to Scotland, either way the view is stunning.
“Binsey occupies the extreme north-west corner of the Lake District. Beyond is the coastal plain, then the sea, then Scotland; nothing intervenes to interrupt this sweeping panorama. What a domain, and what a throne to view it from!”
A Wainwright
From the roadside we will climb through the bracken, with great views over the Skiddaw Massif to the south east throughout.
Upon reaching the summit the view west and north will unfold with some stunning views over the Solway Firth to Scotland.
The summit of Binsey is worth an inspection also, the summit cairn is an ancient Tumulus and the lower cairn to the north west of the summit possible gives an even better viewpoint.
