Event Description

"In the mountains there are only two grades: You can either do it, or you can't."

This is one of the hardest challenges that a walker can aim at in the Lake District. Over 24 hours we will aim to take in all four 3000 foot mountains in England, which are all in the Lake District National Park. We will do this as one continuous walk, with no other transport between the mountains.

Skiddaw	931 metres/3054 feet
Helvellyn	950 metres/3117 feet
Scafell Pike	978 metres/3209 feet
Scafell	964 metres/3163 feet

A Wainwright

Starting in Keswick, we will ascend Skiddaw before returning to Keswick and heading south east through the valley to Helvellyn. After climbing Helvellyn we descend to Wythburn before following the valley up to High Raise, the large central fell of the Lakes which stands right in the middle of the best route from Helvellyn to Scafell Pike.

After High Raise we are on our final major mountain, descending to Angle Tarn before the long bouldery route to Scafell Pike and then the steep walk to Scafell. Now that we will have finished the 3000s our aim is to get back to Keswick in under the 24h time limit. We follow the corridor route down to Styhead Tarn and from there down to Seathwaite. From Seathwaite to Keswick may be a long finale, but the two long distance paths, the Allerdale Ramble and the Cumbria Way, take us right back to the Moot Hall where we started.
