Fairfield from Patterdale
"Fairfield, a grand mountain with grand satellites in support." |
A. Wainwright
|
To the east of Fairfield two great ridges descend to Patterdale, the Hartsop Above How ridge climbs gently from Brothers Water to Hart Crag whilst the Saint Sundays Crag ridge drops down steeply at first over Cofa pike before easing as it descends of the grassy Birks Ridge.
The scenery on the eastern side of Fairfield is much more dramatic than the more popular east, large crags drop steeply into the Deepdale and Dovedale Valleys giving a splendid longer ridge walk.
