Grid Reference: NY 43773 06734
Height: 706 metres/2316 feet

"A place of rocky excrescences, craggy tors and tumbled boulders, and a fine playground for the mountaineering novice."
A.Wainwright

The southern ridge descending from High Street and Thornthwaite Crag crosses the sharp summits of Froswick and Ill Bell then reaches the broader summit of Yoke before dropping down to the Garburn Pass, the crossing point between Troutbeck and Kentmere. The broad summit of Yoke offers a fine view to the west as well as the view south over Morecambe Bay.

The western slopes of Yoke descend gently towards Troutbeck, but the eastern slopes offer far more of interest, steep crags and gullies descend to the Kentmere Valley, most prominent of these crags is the huge Rainsbarrow Crag, home to many good climbing routes.

Yoke is most commonly known as part of the Kentmere Horseshoe, but there is much more to explore here than the main path via Garburn Pass.
