"Second only to Scafell Crag in the magnificence of it's roocky arcitecture."
A Wainwright

Dow Crag, towering high above Goats Water is a magnificent mountain, favourite of both the walker and the climber it's rocky buttresses make an impressive view when seen from below or across the valley from The Old Man of Coniston.

The steep craggy east face is in stark contrast to the western slopes, descending towards the Duddon Valley.

The lower slopes of Dow Crag are crossed by the famous Walna Scar Road, once a busy quarry road, but now since the closure of the quarries a busy route for the fellwalkers.
