Scafell Pike from Seathwaite

We set off from Seathwaite Farm a little after 10am and headed up the track to Stockley Bridge, just as the rain set in for the day, the river was considerably higher compared to previous weeks, although as the day progressed the water level rised over double it's height.  Taylorgill Force was no longer almost dry, it had obviously been raining heavy the night before.

From Stockley Bridge we climbed up by Greenhow Knott and up alongside Styhead Gill following the path upstream to cross the wooden footbridge and up by Styhead Tarn to the stretcher box at Sty Head Pass, where the rain and wind howled through the valley.

After a short break by the stretcher box, all dripping wet, we crossed to the start of the Corridor Route. The visibility was roughly 10 - 20 meters and it remained so for the rest of the day. We turned right onto the Corridor Route and followed the path crossing Skew Gill and climbing above Stand Crag.

We carefully tackled the wind along the Corridor Route, taking our time descending the bad step as the weather made it a little tricky today.

From Lingmell Col upwards the exposure of the rain and wind continued to made progress hard,  as we approached the summit of Scafell Pike the relief of the shelter was defiantly appreciated, we did not stop for long though because it was cold and we were all very wet.

After a short lunch break behind the summit platform we headed off, following the ridge down towards Broad crag Col and then up onto Broad Crag. We soon approached the first boulder field and progress was made hard due to the conditions of the boulders, although we were soon up on Ill Crag and crossing the second boulder field we descended in to Calf Cove.

From Calf Cove we followed the path down towards Esk Hause, from which we started to see a view of Glaramara and Sprinkling Tarn, however Great End was still in the cloud, this was the first view since Taylor Force.

After reaching the foot of Great End, we took the path down over Ruddy Gill and towards Grains Gill, which was heavy flowing with all of the rain we had throughout the day.

A satisfying day, giving the conditions.
