Just a few words to thank Matt for a great day, his knowledge of the area and understanding of the weather conditions were excellent, which made for a windy but enjoyable day, i for one would recommend using TLDW any time and will book further walks to help with my training for Kili next year

Scafell Pike

Dear Sir/Madam,

We have just returned from a week in the Lake District and on Wednesday 12th October we had booked for a guided walk (climb) up Scafell Pike.

It was a very wet day and we arrived at the meet point 15 minutes early. Just after we arrived, our guide, a young man called Matt, arrived. We chatted while climbing into waterproofs and he told us that it was just the three of us today. We set off and had a really good walk up and back, although a bit wet!

What we wanted to say was a big 'thank you' to Matt who was a very friendly and knowledgable lad and as we have three boys of a similar age, had a lot in common to talk about. He was interested in us and us in him. He gave us good advice on the landscape and warned us (well, me really) when things were steep/rough/difficult, etc., offering a helping hand when needed. We made good time up the mountain and enjoyed a different route down. The scenery, when this could be seen through the misty rain, was spectacular and Matt continually pointed out things of interest.

We really, really enjoyed our day with Matt, so all due credit to him. In fact, if it hadn't been for him, we would have found it very difficult to get to the top and would probably still be there now as we would have had no idea where to start the descent!!

The Lake District Walker will be recommended to all our friends and in our opinion was excellent value for money. So, thank you and also again to Matt, for what was the highlight of our week!

Scafell & Scafell Pike

Climbed Scafell & Scafell Pike on 3rd October thanks to the huge support and encouragement from John. The weather was pretty awful but I am so glad I did it and hope to tackle it again next year,hopefully in better weather.

Helvellyn & Striding Edge 4th October 2011

With a long established fear of heights, to say that I was anxious about this event would be something of an understatement. However, for the 2nd time in just a few days, our walk under the care of John, our guide for the day, was nothing short of exceptional. Setting aside his excellent knowledge of the Lake District, his calm, confident manner and professionalism was a constant and re-assuring presence which meant that, despite a tough and sometimes difficult ascent of Striding Edge (not forgetting the descent via Swirral Edge!), I was able to enjoy every second. Thank-you John for a great day and for helping to make my husbands birthday such a special occasion.
