The fells above the northern end of Ullswater make an enjoyable days walking, grassy hills with stunning views over Ullswater throughout.

This route climbs the three summits at the northern end of the High Street ridge, with breathtaking views over Ullswater and the surrounding fells.

Summits included on this route:

Loadpot Hill	671 metres/2201 feet
Bonscale Pike	524 metres/1719 feet
Arthur's Pike	532 metres/1745 feet

From the end of the Howe Hill road above Pooley Bridge we will take the track leading up to the Cockpit, an ancient stone circle, from here the High Street Roman road leads up the hillside towards Loadpot Hill.

The long steady track climbs gently up the grassy hillside until we take the slight detour from the path to take in the summit of Loadpot Hill.

A short descent from Loadpot Hill will bring us down onto the grassy slopes leading to Bonscale Pike with it's distinctive stone pillars overlooking Ullswater far below.

The path will then lead south from Bonscale Pike, crossing Swarth Beck to rise again to the final summit of the day, Arthur's Pike, another fine summit overlooking the northern end of Ullswater.

From Arthur's Pike the path gently descends north back to The Cockpit, and back to the roadside above Pooley Bridge.

Location Info	Pooley Bridge can easily be found to the south of the A66, between Keswick and Penrith, Follow the A592 south from the Reghed roundabout and continue until the B5320 is reached, turning left here along the lake shore. Cross the bridge into the village and continue through the village and turn right at the mini roundabout. At the crossroads continue straight ahead up the hill to the end of the road, we will meet here, there is plenty of parking along the roadside.
