“Ever since it first became fashionable to make excursions to behold the scenic wonders of the English Lake District Easdale Tarn has been a popular venue for visitors”
A Wainwright
A great low level walk following the Langdale Valley from the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel to Ambleside, a beautiful valley full of tarns and wonderful scenery.
“A romantic setting, inurned in bracken clad moraines with a background of craggy fells, and easily accessible from Grasmere”
A Wainwright
From Grasmere we will follow the track across the fields by Brimmer Head Farm and climb alongside the waterfalls of Sour Milk Gill, after exploring the pools and the magnificent views as we climb by the waterfalls we will emerge onto the shore of Easdale Tarn.
Easdale Tarn is one of the more scenic in the Lake District, a secluded setting surrounded by rocky fells.
After a short walk around the tarn and even a paddle for the brave we will descend north, across the lower slopes of Tarn Crag to descend into the Far Easdale Valley, a quiet valley, far less trodden than much of the area around Grasmere, we will follow the beck back along the valley and descend to Easdale Road and Grasmere.
Each participant will be required to bring suitable equipment for their chosen event, please see Kit List tab above.
