Frequently Asked Questions

Are children allowed on the guided walks

Yes, Children are allowed on our walks, however as the groups are open events all under 18's should be accompanied by an adult.

Are dogs allowed on the guided walks

Yes, well behaved dogs are allowed on our walks, however there are a few provisions, for many of the walks dogs will be required to be on a lead for large parts of the walk, this may be due to farm livestock grazing on the fells or nesting birds on the ground. Some walks may not be appropriate for all dogs, for example the top of Scafell Pike is very bouldery which not all dogs can cope with easity.

How do I search by difficulty of walk

Within every page on The Lake District Walker website you can sort events by dificulty, just select Difficulty in the 'Sort By' box at the top of the listings and you can view the results in ascending or descending order.

Is there a minimum age for children

No, there is no minimum age for the events, but please pick walks that are suitable for the child, we have taken 6 year olds up Scafell Pike who have loved every minute of the day, but this walk would not be appropriate for all 6 year olds, if you are in doubt please ask.

What happens if I'm running late

It is your responsibility to be at the start point at the given time for your event. If you are running late for an event with The Lake District Walker please inform the office of this, we will make every effort to get in touch with the guide an inform him. Please be aware that there are several meet points where there is no mobile phone coverage and it is not always possible to get messages to the group.

Does the weather affect our walk

Our events run regardless of the weather on the day as long as it is safe to do so, should the weather not be appropriate for the planned event then an alternative route will be offered by the guide. If an alternative route is not appropriate then a full refund or transfer to another date will be offered. Should the weather not be safe enough for the event The Lake District Walker will contact you with as much notice as possible, please ensure that the contact details that we have for you are up to date, you can change your details through the 'My Account' section of the website.
