The summit of Grisedale Pike is a gem amongst summits in the Lake District, a small rocky summit offering views across much of Lakeland and some of the best views of the northern fells around the Keswick area.
Although a high summit it is easily attainable from Whinlatter Pass, taking a little over an hour to climb from Revelin Moss, a great shorter walk with an alternative descent over the Black Crag ridge back to the pass.

A short ascent from Whinlatter Grisedale Pike makes a wonderful shorter excursion onto the high fells of the Lake District, a high level horseshoe walk without all the effort of starting in the village of Braithwaite.
We start from the Revelin Moss car park, near the summit of the Whinlatter Pass and head off through the forest to the south west, soon emerging from the trees at the foot of the north eastern ridge of Grisedale Pike.
Our route climbs this grassy ridge to the summit of Grisedale Pike, a short but steepish ascent climbing directly to the summit cairn where we will be rewarded with some wonderful views on a clear day over much of the Lake District.
From the summit of Grisedale Pike our route descends to the north, a gentle ridge descending over Hobcarton End before dropping more steeply over Black crag back into the forestry land above Whinlatter Pass and onto the forestry track back to Revelin Moss.

Directions
From Keswick: Follow the A66 west from Keswick, towards Cockermouth & Workington turning off the road at Braithwaite, follow the road passing the Royal Oak and climb towards the summit of the Whinlatter Pass, the Revelin Moss Car Park will be seen on the left had side of the road before the visitor centre is reached, we will meet here.
Bus Services
A seasonal bus service runs past Revelin Moss, stopping at the entrance to the car park.
The 77/77a bus runs between Keswick and Buttermere, over Whinlatter Pass, this is a seasonal service from Easter to October.
