The wonderful rambling Lingmoor Fell, bisecting the Great Langdale and Little Langdale valleys covered in crags, heather and bracken clad slopes is a stunning viewpoint over the higher fells on either side.
To the north the view over the rugged Crinkles, Bowfell and Langdale Pikes are impressive and to the south Wetherlam makes another great backdrop.
The views east towards Windermere are also of merit, the low rolling wooded countryside rolls down to the shores of Windermere.

From Blea Tarn we will descend slightly to meet the track traversing the southern slopes of Lingmoor Fell, above Little Langdale. The path traverses with fine views over Little Langdale until it meets an old mine track, climbing the southern slopes of the fell in broad zig-zags to reach the main ridge.
An interesting climb along the ridge, around many long disused quarry workings with stunning views to the south throughout until the path reaches the summit of Lingmoor Fell.
Upon reaching the summit the view to the north is dramatically revealed with breathtaking views over the Langdale Pikes and across to the Crinkle Crags and Bowfell.
From the summit of Lingmoor Fell we will descend to the north to Lingmoor Tarn, a beautiful tarn nestled into the northern slopes of Lingmoor Fell.
A good path leads from Lingmoor Tarn west too rejoin the ridge as it descends to Side Pike, a rocky outcrop of rock where at first no obvious route to the summit will be seen, but with a little ingenuity a good path will be shown.
A short descent from Side Pike and we will be at Blea Tarn, Wordsworth's Solitary Abode, is a short distance away, and we will follow the path around the western shores of the tarn returning to our start point.

Directions
From Ambleside: Leave on the A593, signposted to Langdale and Coniston, follow this road until the junction at Skelwith Bridge, turn here, signposted to Chapel Stile and Langdale. Follow this road through the village of Chapel Stile and continue past the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel when the road bends to the left and climbs the hill continue to top of hill, over Cattle Grid, pass the house until National Trust car park is seen on the left, we will meet here. Please note that the car park is Pay and Display (£6 in 2010).
Bus Services
Blea Tarn is not on a bus route, the nearest bus stop is the Old Dungeon Ghyll which is serviced by the 516 bus route, the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel is 2.3km away.
The 516 runs between Ambleside and the Langdale Valley.

Stunning views Review by Joe
Our group of 10 was led up Lingmoor Fell on Saturday for a 10 mile hike taking in the summit and the cavern at Little Langdale. The walk was a great distance and scenery breath taking. Our guide Rick was a lovely guy and very knowledgeable about the surrounding peaks, even finding us the perfect lunch spot overlooking a stunning valley. Starting and finishing at the Britannia in Elterwater the perfect place, especially for a post-walk pint of Coniston Bluebird! Overall highly recommended. (Posted on 28/04/2016)
