"The virtues of Helm Crag have not been lauded enough. It gives an exhilarating little climb, a brief essay in real mountaineering, and, in a region where all is beautiful, it makes a notable contribution to the natural charms and attractions of Grasmere."
A Wainwright

One of the quieter tops of the Lake District, the summit of Armboth Fell is one of the most central in the Lake District, lying just to the east of the ridge between Ullscarf and High Tove it is well off the beaten track. The more interesting approach from the shores of Thirlmere to the East give some stunning views from crags such as Fisher Crag and some interesting routes along both Fisher Gill and Launchy Gill.
