High Tove

Grid Reference: NY 28922 16512
Height: 515 metres/1690 feet

"It is hard to imagine that anybody feels any affection at all for High Tove, apart perhaps from the sheep whose natural heaf it is."
A Wainwright

The gentle heathery summit of High Tove above Watendlath has for centuries been a well trodden route, for many years it was used as the route between Watendlath and Wythburn, until Armboth was flooded for the Thirlmere Resevoir, an unusual route as passes between valleys usually take the lower route, but in this case it was preferred to keep to the higher dry ground.
